Balanced Billing

With Balanced Billing for residential customers, your electric bill changes slightly from month to month to help guard against a large settle-up bill.

How it Works

  • Your monthly bill is a rolling average of your kilowatt-hour (kWh) usage for the previous 11 months plus your usage for the current month.  That amount is divided by 12, taking into consideration the current month's electric rate.
  • The billing amount is recalculated each month based on a rolling average so that your 12th month settle-up bill is more predictable.
  • We conduct regular six month reviews of your Balanced Billing account to ensure that your energy usage is in line with your average monthly payment.

  • During the 12th month, NES will compare the cost of your actual usage to the total amount paid for the year.  If there is an overpayment, your account will be credited, or you may request a refund.  If you have underpaid, NES will send you a bill for the difference.

Join Anytime

Residential customers can join Balanced Billing at any time.  You must have service at your present address for at least one year and be current on your NES bill payments.

If your account becomes past due, you will be automatically dropped from Balanced Billing.  You may cancel your enrollment at any time.
