Organizations with a tax exemption certificate pay a reduced sales tax rate or are not charged sales tax on their bill. Understanding Seasonal RatesThe Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) made changes to its rate structure in April 2011. Distributors, like NES, were given several rate options. After extensive research, NES chose TVA’s time-of-use seasonal rate option because it has the least impact on our customers. What are Seasonal Rates? Customers are charged a higher rate in the summer (June- September) and winter (December-March). Rates are lower during transitional months (April-May & October-November).
What does it mean for my bill? The TVA rate structure typcially results in higher bills for most customers during the summer and winter months. The degree of the impact will depend on the customer’s usage during those months.
