Frigid January Could Mean Higher Bills

2/3/2010

Nashville Electric Service is preparing customers for higher bills this winter due to a colder December and January.  The month of January was 15 percent colder than normal and December 2009 temperatures were recorded as 4 percent colder than the previous year.  Customers should expect to see an increase in their kilowatt-hour usage compared to a year ago.

To lower your bill, try turning your thermostat down a degree or two below where you normally keep it.  We recommend a setting of 68 degrees.  Each degree that you turn your thermostat back could save you one percent on your monthly heating bill.
